James Gladstone’s great fondness for planet Earth inspired him to write Earthrise. Whether he’s thinking about planet Earth, turtles with red ears, or winter days in the city, James looks for the poetry in everything around us. Christy Lundy

Christy Lundy is a Canadian illustrator living in Toronto. She grew up in the country with her mom, dad, big sister, grandparents and a golden retriever named Taffy. For as far back as she can remember Christy liked to draw. She would visit her grandmother and they would make crafts, drink tea and talk. This is how it all began, but Christy would keep drawing and painting all the way through elementary school and high school, always excited to learn more. She knew she wanted to be an artist when she grew up so she decided to go to college for illustration. It was there that Christy met other artists like her, and they became good friends. After graduation Christy moved to Toronto to paint pictures for TV shows like Paw Patrol and Abby Hatcher. Now she paints pictures in her cozy apartment for magazines, newspapers and books. When she’s not making art she likes to bike around the city, watch cartoons while eating snacks, and read exciting books with magic and knights in shining armour. Earthrise is her first picture book and she hopes you really, really like it.
