Kyo Maclear

Kyo Maclear is an essayist, novelist and children’s author. She was born in London, England to a mixed race family and moved to Canada at the age of four. Her books have been translated into sixteen languages, published in over twenty countries, and nominated for literary awards, including the Hilary Weston Writers’ Trust Prize for Nonfiction, the Trillium Book Award, the Governor General’s Literary Award, the TD Canadian Children’s Literature Award, the Amazon.ca First Novel Award, and the National Magazine Awards. Kyo lives and works in Toronto on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the New Credit, the Anishnaabeg, the Haudenosaunee, Métis, and the Huron-Wendat. She is currently associate faculty with Humber College’s School for Writers and the University of Guelph Creative Writing MFA program.

Byron Eggenschwiler

Byron Eggenschwiler has been drawing for as long as he can remember. After graduating from the Alberta College of Art and Design he persude a path in illustration and has been working at it ever since. His work has appeared on book and album covers, advertising, magazines and more recently inside children’s books. Though Byron has always enjoyed reading graphic novels, Operatic is the first one he has worked on. Previous books of his include Beastly Puzzles by Rachel Poliquin and Coyote Tales by Thomas King. He lives in Calgary, Canada, with his wife and two cats, one spotted and one scaredy.
